With winter fast approaching, are you sure that your HVAC system is prepared to generate the most energy savings possible? If you haven’t had your annual service check yet, you will probably end up paying too much on your monthly heating costs. The savings it creates can easily offset the cost of your service check.
The two main goals of your annual service check are to make sure your HVAC system will stay working throughout the entire heating season without any issues and that it will do so at maximum efficiency. To do this, your HVAC service technician
will meticulously clean each and every component, no matter how small of a role it may serve. Moving parts will also be lubricated to help it run as smoothly as possible. Reducing its workload helps it operate using less energy, minimizing energy costs and helping to extend its overall longevity.
All of the components will also be checked for damage. Parts that appear to be in danger of failing soon will be pointed out so you can make the call on whether to replace them or not. It is always advisable to replace them as soon as possible so that you don’t end up with a surprise breakdown on your hands in the middle of winter when you need your heating system the most. Right now is the ideal time for preventive maintenance so you know that you and your family don’t need to worry about the upcoming heating season.
Your gas connections will also be inspected during your annual service check. Carbon monoxide, a deadly and odorless gas, is the byproduct of the combustion process in your heating equipment. To make sure that it isn’t posing a threat to you and your family, your HVAC technician needs to make sure there are no leaks into your house. The flue system and heat exchanger should also be inspected.
