If you had problems with your heating system over the winter, you may have delayed buying a furnace replacement because of the cost or because you didn’t want to be without heat during the cold winter months. However, with the arrival of spring, there is really no better time than now to replace your furnace.
Most heating and cooling contractors will charge less during the springtime to replace a furnace because their
labor costs typically are less. This is because they do not have to squeeze in an installation into their already busy winter schedules where they are running to emergency heating calls. This causes them to have to pay their employees overtime and is costly, which in turn is passed on to the customer.
Another reason why it makes sense to have a furnace replacement now is that manufacturers have reduced their prices on furnaces to make way for new models that will be coming in. This means that you may be able to purchase a higher efficiency, Energy-Star heating system for less than you would have paid during the winter.
If you’re considering a furnace replacement, keep in mind that you should consider any potential models’ AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating. The AFUE, listed as a percentage, is the amount of heat it produces compared to the energy that it expends. Additionally, make sure that you work closely with your HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) expert to get the right size furnace replacement for your home, as well as the features that will make it work hard for you next winter.
